Fun on the ranch!!

Where has the week gone?? I have still been trying to recoup from the weekend! Today we spent some time on the fabulous "Dorner Ranch" in Woodstock.  Hopie was thrilled to be on a horse again.  She used to do a certain kind of therapy on horses a couple of years ago and she loved it!!  Addie was not too sure about the whole experience! Thanks Lisa...we WILL be back!

Sunday night shout-outs!

I wanted to give a few shout-outs tonight.  First to Katie Bug.....I can't believe you are 10 years old!! She is such a sweet girl and we can't wait for her party this week!

We missed Carter's B-day while we were in Belize, but we got to make up for that with a sleepover last week! So fun.

Dad also had a B-day while we were gone.  We sent him a birthday video that we made.  I was singing and Pete was rapping!!  Lovely.

She's going to kill me for putting this on here, but I have been SICK as a dog since yesterday afternoon.  I ended up at the ER and came home at midnight still not well!! This morning, Pete was trying to get to church and take the girls with him, and I was in tears because I felt so bad....Katie came to the rescue.  She sat with me until Pete got home from church then she took the girls to lunch and her house for a movie.  I finally started feeling so much better.  Thanks Hannah for taking me last night.....it was NOT a fun place to be and thanks Katie for all your help today!! 

WOW- our weekend has been interesting to say the least.  Addie is doing great with her boo boo.  She is REALLY milking it.  She convinced my dad to take her shopping yesterday and then  get ice cream and a cookie and last night we were with Nana and Pap Pap and again milking it BIG time!!

Hopefully, this week will be much less eventful than our weekend!  

Never a dull moment!

Last night we had a cook-out at our house with some families from our church.  It was such a nice evening since it had been an overcast day! I had just finished eating my dinner and I heard Addie crying.  She had fallen off of our playground set. At first, I didn't think much of it but she kept crying and didn't want to get out of my lap.  She kept complaining of her arm hurting, so after a few phone calls, I left the house with Addie and my 2 girlfriends and headed to Scottish Rite.  Pete stayed back with our house full of guests and played host!

We got right in at the hospital and had an X-ray and it was broken....Actually it's her shoulder.  It's an awkward place that they can't cast, so she is in a sling with a bandage wrapped around her to keep it in place! Poor Baby.

Addie is doing good now.  Of course, she HAD to sleep with us last night and really needs me to take her to the store!  She was just worried that her arm was going to "FALL" off!

Again, never a DULL moment in the Hixson house:)

Belize..part 2

OK, I HAD to post some more pictures and I will stop talking about our Belize trip.  Last post....I promise:)

It's Hot in Atlanta!

That's right!! We HAD to stay in the water yesterday just to be able to stand being outside.  The cousins had a great time at the pool and then had big plans to go to an amusement park and ride some rides but we got rained out!! Oh well, it was off to the movies!!

Hope and Carter are enjoyed their day together giggling and playing together. The two "divas" are having their own kind of fun at Aunt Heidi's house!!

Belize...part 1

As some of you know, I am a very nervous flyer (i am convinced I inherited this from my father that is just like me when he is in the air) so when we arrived to Belize city, we had to board this plane below!! Yes- a single engine plane that seats 14 people and no (working) air conditioning!!  On top of that, I didn't even get to sit by Pete! Luckily, the weather was beautiful and we survived!  It was only 15 minutes....

I quickly erased all of this from my mind once we arrived to the beautiful island! Here are some pictures of "The Victoria House" resort where we stayed.  

I miss them....

So, Pete and I have had a FABULOUS time over the past week, BUT now we are ready to see our girls!!!! We have unpacked, washed all the clothes, straightened up the house, gone to lunch, been to the hair salon, went to dinner at the Melting Pot........but we are missing them. Can't wait until tomorrow:)

Ambergris Caye Belize!!

Last Sunday morning, Pete and I left for Belize!! We had a great time celebrating our 11th anniversary (on Aug. 2nd) and just hanging out together -ALONE!!  We always laugh when our girls are with us that we can't finish a conversation! I think we almost ran out of things to talk about....almost!  Belize was just wonderful.  We miss our girls and they are STILL not home.  They are still partying it up with my parents and sister! 

I need to go through all my pictures and I'll post more later.

The wedding was simply beautiful! Everything was perfect today for Lindsey and Taylor on their special day.  

I'll post more pictures later....including both of my babies that were in the wedding and just adorable!! They did a fantastic job as the flower girls. For now....it's late...gotta go to bed.

Wilmington, NC....let the festivities begin!

We are in the great town of Wilmington about to celebrate the wedding of my cousin, Lindsey!!

I can't believe they are getting married!!

We are staying with our friends, Jon and Tita.  They are some of our best friends! Pete and I met them the week after we got married (almost 11 years ago) and totally hit it off! We have had some amazing meals the past few days by Tita and so many good laughs that my face hurts by the end of the day!! The girls have had the best time with their kids as well....and the dog!  We had some great laughs on the boat yesterday as Tita and I were pressured into tubing!! I have never done that before.....and now I know why.......there was so much water in my eyes and in my nose that I could not breathe!!  We did manage to stay on for a few minutes, but today my arms are killing me.

Last night was the rehearsal at the cute little chapel Linz and Taylor will be married followed by dinner at a great place on the water....of course our night did not end there.  All of the girls took the bride out for a little lingerie shower and dessert at a fondue place downtown THEN...yes there is more.....we met up with all the guys and went dancing!!  Everyone had such a great time!

THANKFUL THURSDAY!

I decided to change up the Thursday 13 for today and list the things I'm thankful for :)

I'm thankful that we are finally getting some answers today on something we have been waiting on!

I'm thankful to spend time with family in NC this weekend for Lindsey and Taylor's wedding.

I'm thankful for a sweet couple that took us out to dinner this week and baked us a cake and I'm still eating it!

I'm thankful for my new friendships....and my old ones

I'm thankful for a husband that loves and supports me!

I'm thankful for my relationship with the Lord

I'm thankful for book stores that stay open until 11 pm

I'm thankful for 2 daughters that keep me laughing (or screaming)

I'm thankful for the encouragement I received this week from so many sweet people by notes and email

I'm thankful for my sister...even though Pete does not understand why we talk on the phone 25 times and day and text each other when we are not on the phone:)

I'm thankful for this super cute dress I got for a great deal to wear to the festivities this weekend (i know- deep)

I'm thankful for my fun summer so far!

I'm thankful for being able to watch my husband lead a lady to the Lord at the lunch table on Sunday!!

Friends & Coffee!!

So, today I got together with my sweet friend "JC" that I hardly get to see anymore:( and we took our girls to the pool.  Actually, I just had Addie with me today since Hope is at summer school (and loving it!) this week.  It was great to catch up with her and I loved watching our girls (that are just a couple of months apart) play together and swim!

We got on the topic of coffee!!

Yes, on a hot summer day our conversation turned to coffee!! Here is a little background info...Pete and I have been married for almost 11 years!! He is a coffee addict! He drinks it all the time!

He begged me for years to start drinking it with him and told me...it was all about an experience  and not JUST the drink.  Well, shortly after JC and I became friends...she got me started on coffee- only with HEAVY whipping cream.  What's not to love...Well, now I am a full blown coffee drinker. Yes, it's 5 pm and I'm having my afternoon cup.  

I gotta admit, it has to have the right creamer in it...my preference for the summer is coconut cream!! Pete takes his black.  And JC, no sugar...just the heavy whipping cream.

Our 4th of July

We usually host a 4th of July party at our house each year, but we decided to take a break this year and just chill! Our day was spent at the pool with friends and the girls are really getting brave this summer and swimming so well. (yes, mother I'm watching them)  

We had lots of yummy food and pretty much ate the entire day.

The evening rolled around and we decided to go with the rest of the Atlantans to Centennial Park and see the fireworks. Cody decided that it would be "smarter" to ride Marta!! That was an experience.  On the way there....we were pretty much the only people riding!  Well, on the way back it was a whole different story!!  Everyone decided that was the way to get home! Katie and I were pretty much convinced the guys talk us in to doing things to help get new sermon illustrations......

Fun times....great weekend.

Here are some fun photos from Thursday...the girls had a great day with thier cousins (we have not seen them all summer) so it was nice to "catch up" with them and some other girlfriends and their children at Monkey Joe's!!  After that....we headed to the Greenville-Pickens Speedway for a night of RACIN'........ Thursday 13

Here we go again!! Smile. Join in the fun.

1.  I have a weird obsession with Standard Poodles.  I really want to get a white one so we can spray it different colors...weird I know.

2.  Addie talks all day long to the point where Hope is now saying she cannot get a word in.  No one has to even be around and she will talk to herself.  Funny.

3.  Lindsey and Taylor will "tie the knot" in 9 days.

4.  Lindsey and I had "girl time" today at the hair salon. You know you need your hair done when it has been in a ponytail for the last 7 days! much better now.

5.  This is my 3rd thursday 13

6.  I have a major bag obsession.  I got it from my mother.

7.  I bought 2 new bags last week.

8.  I love to have things monogramed.

9. I really need to get rid of my "racoon eyes".... I just can't seem to be able to take my sunglasses off.

10.  I watched "Dirty Dancing" 2 times last week.  Still in my book-best movie EVER.  

11.  I opened the mail last night to discover.......a ticket! Pete ran the red light on Freedom Parkway a couple of weeks ago!!

$ 70.00 down the drain. 

12.  Tomorrow night....Racin' baby! My whole family is obsessed.

Home Sweet Home....for now!

The girls and I made it home!!! All alone.  Yes this is a big accomplishment for ME.  I'm the one that does not even go to the grocery store with both of my children.  6 hours in the car and a nice ride.  Addie pretty much talked the entire time!!  Little Miss Chatterbox! Hope watched a few movies and fell asleep pretty early.  

Our last day on the beach yesterday was just beautiful.  I'll post more pictures later. 

We had a nice time with my sis (the beach bums of the year) and her family.  Jake can cook! We had some great food.  Dee has some skillz of her own.  Just ask her about that special lotion she uses to make her....BLACK.  I really am beginning to think we are not from the same family.  No really, the funny thing is all of our cousins have a very brown sibling then a fair skin one. I'm really not complaining because I do have benefits of the "Indian blood"in me and can get a good tan. It's just funny how many times my sister is asked how in the world is she that color!!

Well, here we are back in the ATL for about a week and a half then it's off to another adventure...more on that later!
